Anakiwa Lodge

Our second stay at this lodge was just as amazing as the first! The accommodation was top-notch, making us feel right at home after a less-than-stellar experience elsewhere. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing a well-equipped kitchen and a snack bar with delicious beverages and snacks. The cleanliness of the lodge was impeccable and its location by the wharf and end of a scenic track was unbeatable. We had a blast using the kayaks to explore the stunning lake and enjoying the abundance of wildlife. The wine tasting tour by Daryl was a delightful escape from the rain, and we loved the tranquil atmosphere of the raised terrace. The helpful staff, coffee/tea facilities, hot showers, and BBQ were major bonuses. Anakiwa itself is a hidden gem, and we couldn't have asked for better accommodation to enjoy this beautiful part of New Zealand. Plus, the private bedroom with ensuite and the fantastic hot tub were the cherry on top of our unforgettable stay.

Had a brilliant time at this hostel, one of the best I've stayed at in NZ! Loved the quiet location, just a short drive from a buzzing town and a quick walk to the beautiful water and hiking trails. The upgraded ensuite room was a pleasant surprise, with all the amenities you'd expect in a hotel. The cleanliness and tidiness of the hostel were spot on, and they even sold some supplies in case you needed them. Can't forget to mention the friendly staff who were always helpful. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Only minor downside was the limited bathroom and shower facilities, which were a bit far from the family room. But honestly, it wasn't a big issue during my stay.

Anakiwa Lodge is my go-to place. Staff found my lost wallet on my first stay. It has all I need: Wi-Fi, kitchen, laundry. Plus, canoeing, fishing, Jacuzzi. Coming back for the weekend.

I had a terrific stay at the lodge. the location was perfect, just a stone's throw away from the lake. I had a great time using the kayaks to explore the beautiful surroundings and spot various birds and wildlife. the highlight was when a large stingray swam right into the bay! I also enjoyed collecting beautiful tiny shells on the seashore. the lodge had a wonderful wine tasting tour, which was a fantastic way to spend a rainy day. the staff were very friendly and helpful, and I loved browsing through their personal library and sitting on the raised terrace with a coffee and a good book, listening to the soothing bird songs. the facility was clean and well-equipped, and the hot shower was much appreciated after a dip in the refreshing lake. the easy access to spectacular views, both by foot and by car, was a bonus.

Peaceful location with large terrace and kitchen facilities. Can organize boat trips along Queen Charlotte Sound. Offers free kayaks and a small charge for a double kayak. Excellent standard of accommodation.

We had an amazing stay at the lodge in Anakiwa. The clean and modern room had everything we needed, including a hot tub and a great selection of videos. We especially loved the access to the kayaks, made our stay perfect. Already recommended to others! a great experience.

The smell of cooking can occasionally seep into the rooms, slightly altering the tranquil ambiance of this otherwise immaculate space.

Extensive water views of the sounds as you travel down the track, it's like a picturesque postcard come to life. The small lodge is very "family friendly" and a popular safe environment for children with many activities, perfect for creating unforgettable family memories. A warm airconditioned area to relax in, cozy for the cooler winter nights, like being wrapped in a snug blanket.

our stay at anakiwa lodge was exceptional. from the warm reception and guided tour of the facilities to the spacious room and well-equipped kitchen, everything exceeded our expectations. we loved using the kayaks to explore nearby bays and the hot spa pool was a great bonus. the location at the end of the queen charlotte track was perfect. highly recommend this place!

The value for money was excellent, and the room wassuper clean and cozy. The location was very nice, right by the lake and surrounded by beautiful nature. The staff at the Lodge were friendly and helpful.

The only thing that could make the breakfast choices better would be to offer a wider variety of options.

Text: The Queen Charlotte Track is a scenic and enjoyable 3-4 day walk. An optional wine tour adds to the experience. The lodge offers a movie lounge, outdoor sundecks, and a vast DVD library. Luggage storage and laundry facilities are also available. Can't think of anything negative, truly flawless!

As avid hikers, we were delighted to find that Anakiwa Lodge is located at the end of the Queen Charlotte Track, which made it the perfect choice for our trip. Darryl, the host, warmly welcomed us and gave us a thorough tour of the facilities. Our room on the upper floor at the back was spacious and comfortable, complete with a lovely private deck. The shared kitchen was well-equipped and clean. We especially enjoyed the hot spa pool, which provided a relaxing retreat after a long day of exploring. The lodge also offers a Continental breakfast option, which we found to be delicious. To top it all off, Darryl graciously arranged transportation for us to the airport in Blenheim. Anakiwa Lodge exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.
